LIFT MECHANIC (Entry Level)
Entry-level mechanics learn and develop preventative maintenance skills and perform all routine preventive maintenance procedures under the guidance of more senior mechanics. You will be responsible for documenting all required lift inspections and regularly monitoring the condition of assigned lifts to ensure safe operation to the public. You will become familiar with the industry standards for lift maintenance, fixed and detachable, troubleshooting lift issues, and coming to quick, positive results. You will need solid leadership skills to represent Kelly Canyon Resort and Mountain Operations appropriately. At times, you will work closely with Mountain Maintenance, Lift Maintenance and Lift Operations Manager to ensure a seamless quality guest experience.
Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
Ability to lift 100 lbs.
Able to stand for long periods of time of up to four hours.
A valid US Driver’s License -REQUIRED
Ability to work on high structures (up to 150 feet), outside, and under inclement weather -REQUIRED
Maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays required.
Snowmobile, intermediate level ski, or snowboard ability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preventative maintenance and repair the assigned lifts.
Complete service on pre-season, in-season, and post-season on all fixed and detachable lifts.
Interact professionally with lift operations staff and assist with lift operations training.
Solve problems quickly with solid troubleshooting skills.
Be able to follow safety and risk management policies and procedures.
Responsible for lift maintenance and operations in accordance with all safety, OSHA, and insurance applicable guidelines and/or State and Federal laws.
Present all lift maintenance needs and concerns to the Lift Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner with required details, background, and possible solutions to ensure a quick resolution.
Work closely with all staff engaged in lift maintenance.
Work closely with Mountain Maintenance on various projects.
Will be required to work some night, holiday, and special event shifts.
Operation of 2-way radio systems
Excellent communication skills written and oral
Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals.
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration percentages
High-level reasoning skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. This job’s specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
